Wedding at Braestone Farm
When I first received Jackie and Mac’s inquiry, it was so very hard to say no. The only thing stopping me was that their wedding date so happened to be on… my birthday. They seemed like the perfect couple to work with, and the location for their event was 1000% exactly what I wanted to be shooting at. I really had to think this one through, but ultimately, when you hit your late 20’s (especially in a pandemic world) birthdays start to feel like another day. So, I sent the contract over and on with their wedding planning we went!
The entire week leading up to J+M’s day was HOT. Naturally, their wedding day would also be hot — of course. Aside from the wicked heat, their day was such a beautiful one surrounded by many family members and friends. If I could say one thing about Mac and Jackie, it would be just how incredibly kind and thoughtful they are. They constantly made sure I was hydrated and was taking breaks when I needed to. When they found out I ended up getting a last minute hotel room for the night of their wedding, they immediately declared that the stay would be on them. They tried so very hard to make sure I wouldn’t be called out on my birthday (which still ended up happening and I had 80+ people sing me happy birthday which inevitably made me cry and have a very very red face, HA). They seriously are just the kindest of people and I left their wedding that night so sad that our time together was just about over. I always feel SO lucky when I get to experience a relationship like that with my couples — it’s so beyond special.
I didn’t even share the amount of times I caught Mac just crushing so hard on Jackie but it was seriously my favourite thing to witness throughout their wedding day. If that isn’t love, then I have no idea what is!
Also, very clever of Braestone to ensure everyone was seated under the shade on this hot, hot wedding day. I witnessed way too many times this year where the wedding party was forced to stand in the blazing hot sun and guests were sitting in the most uncomfortable spots while the sun beat down on them. If there is one thing I can suggest to couples planning a wedding — the ceremony backdrop shouldn’t always be the main concern. Standing in the hot sun is incredibly dangerous and from a photographers perspective, it photographs terribly. Shade should be your friend in more then one way!
