Moody Sunset Engagement Session - Ottawa River

This session was actually shot back in July of 2019. Mac and Nichole were one of the first clients I photographed at Black Bear Beach since moving to the area in 2018. They had a vision for a steamy beach engagement session and I was just so excited to dabble in that idea. I didn’t have a lot of clientele yet and didn’t have a lot of trust from potential clients so having a couple excited to land this idea with me just meant so much.

When we shot the session and I was on a high the entire time. The beach they chose was beautiful and vacant which meant we had a whole lot of area to play with. 2019 Autumn was ecstatic that she was shooting a beach session like this. Little did she know that once she shared her images, a lot of people would be interested in having similar photos shot like that. My edits back then for this session were great however I have grown a lot since then and I wanted to honour that. I found the RAWS the other day on an external hard drive and I just knew I needed to pull them from the archives and give them new life with the editing skills I have developed since 2019.

This time around I made sure to add a delicious amount of grain to encapsulate the idea of film like images, a little bit of moody lighting, and ensuring the true colours of golden hour that seeped into blue hour were shown at their best.

I look forward to all the steamy beach sessions to come this year and so forth —
