If you’re looking for the dreamiest location to get married, look no further than Anupaya Cabin Co, in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. This gorgeous venue not only provides a stunning backdrop of the rolling hills, but it also offers an escape for you and your guests from your everyday busy lives. A space to truly be present with your friends and family during one of your most exciting milestones.
Kathleen and Will lived a short time in the area local to Deep River before moving north. When the time came to deciding where to get married, they had no doubt that it would be at Anupaya. I along with their guests were swooning over all of the intricate details that brought this beautiful day together. Shannon and Pete, the owners of Anupaya went above and beyond ensuring everyone was well taken care of and seriously put in the most effort to execute this beautiful day.
K+W forwent a crazy schedule or a wedding party and I must say, it was the smoothest wedding I have shot this year. When you hire a documentary photographer, it’s actually super beneficial to have as low key of a schedule as possible to allow the most candid of images to take place. We didn’t fuss with a lot of getting ready images - in fact Kathleen did her own makeup and her mom did her hair. After the ceremony was over, I followed their queues in order to see when certain images should take place. Cocktail hour started almost immediately, and after K+W had time to say hello and thank people, we seamlessly fell into capturing family photos. Again, less strict itinerary planning, the less hectic things felt. A small quick family shot list with only immediate family meant Kathleen and Will were able to join their cocktail hour again in record time. Reception was the same idea. After a course was served, we dined, listened to a speech, and the cycle continued until the dance floor opened up. By the end of speeches, myself, Kathleen, and Will snook out for their portraits near the tail end of golden hour and the beginning of blue hour. Anuapaya happens to be on a beach front so naturally, the images turned out absolutely stunning.
Something so special about this day was how small the guest list was and how intimate this wedding felt. Everyone could say hi to each other and it felt like I was at an adult summer camp where everyone is just so stoked to hang out with each other. Anupaya really does help wash all stresses away.
One cute fact I have to share before wrapping up this blog is when Kathleen made it down the aisle to meet Will at the alter, she realized that Will was wearing a tie she had bought him YEARS ago that he never had once worn. It meant a great deal to her that he chose to wear it on the day of their wedding and I just think those sweet little details have to be honoured!
