Strathmere August Wedding

Katie and Tyler had originally reached out to me back in the fall of 2021 about an engagement session. They drove all the way out to my neck of the woods bringing their pup Ollie as well. They had such a joy working with me that only a couple months later, they reached back out for me to photograph their wedding!

Of course, I said yes! Knowing my couples before the wedding day makes the actual event day go very smoothly. I already know how my couple interact with each other, and there is no awkward meet and greets to be had. I just dive right into my work and have comfortable conversations because I already know my couple! So, if you’re on the fence about booking an engagement session with your wedding photographer, this is me telling you to do it!!

August 5th was an incredibly hot wedding day and I was so thankful that Katie and Tyler had their wedding at a venue that has air conditioning. To be honest, the more hot summer outdoor weddings I photograph, the more I am questioning if I want to continue specializing in outdoor weddings. I love shooting in natural light, but these hot summer days just seem to get more and more uncomfortable. Nonetheless, these two were champs about the heat and made the best out of it.

I adore that Katie and Tyler made sure to add little details of their boy Ollie throughout their day so that he could be there in spirit since he couldn’t attend the actual event in “dog”. I also love how much these two had a total blast with their day. They made their entire wedding party battle for the best entrance into reception and then had their guests vote for the best entrance. Although Katie and Tyler’s dinosaur costumes wouldn’t blow up properly, I still think they took the cake. Another really cool feature they added to their day was a cigar bar outside for guests to enjoy post reception. It was a total hit!

I really loved shooting at this venue for the many areas you can photograph portraits in. We took total advantage of golden hour in the field behind the Garden House and they made for the best portrait photos out of the whole day.
